Thank you once again

I think it is about time I once again thank all those who have been supportive of my run for mayor. Things have died down and school has just been a pain the butt, but nonetheless I still meet random people who knew I ran for mayor. Obviously everyone knew I was going to lose, but the 8000 people that came out to vote for me was extraordinary. So what does this all mean? I don’t know yet, but I’ll find out soon.

Ever since the provincial election passed, I’ve realized that I need to give the people a voice. However, if the people want a voice, they will tell me and I will be more than happy to accept whatever the result may be. I am also very glad to have a wonderful circle of people always supporting me.

Perhaps there are two ‘groups’ of people I would like to thank once again. I believe to begin whatever road I may end up on, I have to start thanking and respecting people. Respect comes from the actions and words I say, not particularly how I dress or how formal I am. I stand by that because I believe in fighting for what is right, ethical, and moral for whoever I am running for, not for what would make me win. This usually translates into “a whole lot of losing.”

Anyway, the first ‘group’ I want to thank are my parents and my relatives. Although they were very skeptical and probably thinking I was crazy for running, they have done more than I could have ever asked for, both in support for my campaign and in finances. At first I did not really want to do any type of campaigning that would cost money, but they helped me out a lot, and I cannot thank them enough. These are the people I fight for, and I will continue to do that. They are the ones that make Calgary what it is, and it is an honor that I get to go into an election and represent these type of people. The best however, is whatever the result, they are always there for you.

The second ‘group’ is a particular person. I don’t know if she’ll ever read this, but my girlfriend has been an amazing person for me as well. I am very glad to be with her, and whatever happens in the future, I still think I owe her a thank you. Through the tough times and and wackiness of it all, she’s always been there for me, and her support has been both inspirational and beautiful. I think beautiful is not enough to describe her. Thank you Portia.

I think the whole JZ show is not going to move on, but I think I’ll be ranting here for a bit. Until 2010, I’ll be “that guy who ran for mayor”.

It’s been a while

My friends, Jeremy will be back for the 2010 elections.

The JZ Podcast #3

The JZ Podcast #3 -

Jeremy talks about the hippos, club soda, Wikipedia, street signs,
banning booze in limos, and a whole ton of stuff. Apparently Emily Wyatt
likes hairy dudes due to her statement about students not caring about
random raises for Harvey Weingarten. As well, a neat criticism about the
Gauntlet and Students’ Union. Since both organizations do not care
much for the beloved JZ, both are also ineffectively in giving students
anything to look forward to.

New in this week’s podcast are random songs from Lazytown and the
new Club Soda theme song (twice) to the music of the Transformers TV
theme. Worth listening!

New Show and New Contributor Information

There is a new show!

October 30th, 2007-

Jeremy Zhao talks about the headlines from the following week in his new segment, “Opinions of the Week”. He takes on a satirical approach to topics such as the new Calgary Zoo CEO and a letter about Dale Hodges.

In this week’s podcast, Jeremy Zhao has a very frank and random discussion about snow, affordable housing, and Alnoor Kassam with his friends and “political pundits” Kristopher Rupert and Chen Li. It’s 15 minutes of either killing brain cells or at times, informative talk.

Sound Problems

Thank you Daryl for the comments about my podcast. Yes! The sound supremely blows at this point, and I will try to fix it and get it working so it doesn’t change volumes randomly. My technician (me) is working 5 to 10 minutes a day trying to get this podcast going. I am very committed to updating it at least once a week, and will try my best to fit it around my schedule. So far I have noticed people still visit this website, and an overwhelming majority support the Zhao 2010 campaign. Guess what is even cooler. Colbert 2008! THREATDOWN!

The JZ Show launches!

My new podcast has just launched! This is what I have planned after the election! I hope this will inform more Calgarians of the issues that the city faces. It is my hope that through this podcast people are more engaged in civic politics, and hopefully leading up to the next election, they will come out and vote. Voter apathy for me does not stop after October 15th, it is merely a beginning.

Would you like to make a statement? Send me your thoughts and comments to my email at crazy.jz@gmail.com. All the best!

Is this the end?

Jeremyzhao.com is changing into something even more awesome! I will be hosting a weekly podcast on Mondays to reflect on city politics and getting people informed about the issues of this city. It will be very awesome. Give me some feedback on what you would like to see in this podcast!

Thank you Calgary

The first thing I want to talk about is the dissent I’ve gotten. Note the language, but one guy said “JZ can suck my balls” while another guy told me it was past my bedtime. Now I’ve never met these people, and I’ve never talked to them, but it sure sounds like they are angry at me already. We also get the occasional hate mail saying I’m junk or they really hate me.

From what I know, 8197 Calgarians didn’t think that, and it was a very good showing. I thought I could do a lot better, but Sandy Jenkins took that. So I end up in 4th, and it seems pretty good. I come from a hardworking family and you know, nothing is ever just good enough. Will I continue my run 3 years later? Maybe, who knows?

For now, I can only say I tried to do something for Calgary, and I hope someone takes my place 3 years down the road, and if I do decide to run, then run with me again.

Thank you Calgarians for your support, and I know many people who phoned me gave me their support even though they did not vote for me. It is not about me, it is about Calgarians taking on the city and taking control of what is going on.

Thank you to everyone who have supported me. It has been amazing meeting everyone.

Level the playing field

Since one of the mayoral candidates has decided to continue to point fingers at other people before he looks at his record, I will level this playing field so that Alnoor Kassam and Dave Bronconnier are not the only ones being attacked.

I advocate that we should be looking at policies, so enough with the finger pointing Sandy:

Jenkins weak for the Weakerthans

What in the world is this? Are you setting a good example for people right now? You say things about Dave and Alnoor yet you are being escorted out for due to some space concerns in a concert? What is this credibility about people when you are acting in a very unprofessional manner?

You were my number one candidate going into this race. You were the one I thought could actually straighten the record, but you have disappointed me. Please do not take it personally, but it is something I want to set straight before this election is over.

And by the way, yes I am 19 and probably have no life experience, but I’m running for mayor and that passion is never going to die.
